What do I do if I have an emergency and VCC is closed? Call one of our Emergency Animal Hospital. They are open 24 hours and will be able to assist you. NorthStar also has an exotic's doctor.
Should my pet be on heartworm preventative? All dogs should be on a heartworm preventative all year round for their entire life. You should NOT start your pet on heartworm preventative without an examination and heartworm test done by your veterinarian first.
What flea and tick preventative should I use? VCC recommends Frontline Gold. Frontline Gold is safe for even puppies and kittens. It spreads with the oils of their skin to help prevent fleas and ticks. Merial only sells to veterinarians and stands by their product 100%. Please call the office for our special sale.
Do I need to apply frontline to my cat if they are indoor only? If you have a dog, then you should apply frontline to the cat(s) as well in order to prevent the fleas from transferring to the cat and infesting the cat and possibly your home.
Can I walk in for an appointment? Our office is by appointment only. Please call to make an appointment so that we can ensure we have the proper doctor and staff for your pet and their needs.

Why is bloodwork necessary for surgical procedures? Bloodwork tests the functions of the organs that flush out the anesthesia. In the event of an issue, the bloodwork will let us know if your pet's system is 100% to undergo anesthesia.
Why do I need to test my pet's fecal sample? Parasites are present anywhere. Pet's can contract intestinal parasites from licking themselves if they have contracted it on their paws even by walking around your yard. Some intestinal parasites can also be transmitted to humans.
